Why the Festival is a Green Event Standard
We are guided by overarching goals:
- To create a warm and friendly atmosphere of togetherness and fun, as it was with the Chango people 100 years ago, we are moving a bit back in time, so it is important to create the right atmosphere and remove ‘modern distractions’ like harsh lights, artificial sound systems, mulimedia screens, air conditioning, coca-cola, etc.
- Ecological, minimalist approach to the consumption of all goods of civilization, which is sometimes difficult nowadays, because everything is becoming ‘automatic’, soulless, out of control – the basic principle: reduce, reuse, recycle: reduce, reuse, recycle
- Exposure of the cultural heritage of cities and regions of Poland, Hungary and the Carpathian Mountains, cooperation with local animators of traditional and ecological culture in Poland and Hungary.
Ecological solutions in the organization of events is our tradition
Joanna Mieszkowicz, as part of the Aeris Futuro Foundation, has been co-creating the Green Events program since 2009 – we promote pro-environmental and pro-social innovations in the organization of events and try to implement them ourselves when organizing events. These ideas also guide the organizers on the Hungarian side – the Szépszerével band.
As part of the Czango Festival, among other things:
- All concerts and dances will be with live music, without artificial sound system, i.e. they will be unplugged
- We will avoid air conditioning, unhealthy artificial lighting, unnecessary printing and waste generation – bring your cup or bottle to the Festival and save the planet <3
- We rely on land-based mass transportation, carpooling, and locally, biking and walking
- We choose event venues that are well connected to different parts of the city, region and Poland
- We focus on local food, without harmful chemicals, meat-free
- We showcase and support culinary heritage – you won’t find products of international brands here
- We support grassroots artistic and ecological initiatives – we cooperate with NGOs
- We present the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities
- We unite nations and generations in the name of common values
